A Big Thank You to the Metal Arts Society of Southern California (MASSC)!

Thank you so much to the artists and attendees of this year’s Mystery Metal Challenge! It was great to see so many familiar and new faces. Chemers Gallery is honored to support and partner with the Metal Arts Society of Southern California (MASSC) for another exciting and very talented showcase.

We’d like to extend a special thanks to John Rose & Erin Proctor along with Bill Gallagher for their leadership and assistance with the show.

With one kit consisting of the same set of materials sent to each member of MASSC, they created diverse and unique pieces of wearable art! (Materials photo is shown below) From faces, rockets, and more,  the imagination that each artisan demonstrated was impressive and and interesting to witness. We appreciate the time and heart poured into this challenge by the MASSC creatives.

This is our  third year hosting MASSC and we cannot wait to see what the next year will bring!

More photos of the event can be found on our Facebook and Instagram.

Show continues through October 19th. All art is available for purchase.

The Metal Arts Society of Southern California (MASSC) Mystery Metals Challenge

Saturday October 5th, 2024
Opening and Artist Reception 5pm – 8pm

Show continues through Saturday, October 19!

Untitled design - 1

Chemers Gallery is excited to be partnering with the Metal Arts Society of Southern California (MASSC)  their Mystery Metals Challenge for a 3rd year.

This year’s theme is Time. The concept of Time is something we interact with every day, but it is also something that can inspire deep thoughts and big questions about ourselves and our place in the universe. Time can be simple and straightforward or arbitrary and abstract. It will be interesting to see each artists interpretation of Time.

Tasked with making something wearable or functional from a mystery box of supplies from Rio Grande Jewelry Supply, MASSC members create the unusual. This year’s box contained a variety of supplies including Brass, Copper, Amethyst, a vintage watch crystal, silver chain & sterling silver wire. They could add any other metals & 1 wild card item. With 23 participating artisans, the Metals Challenge Exhibition will be diverse and impressive!

Join us at Chemers Gallery for the opening reception Saturday October 5th from 5p-8p to meet the artists.

Show continues through October 19th.

All works will be available for purchase.
